About the New Haven County Bar Association
Founded in the late 18th Century and incorporated in 1907, the New Haven County Bar Association is a not-for-profit professional organization of nearly 1,300 New Haven area judges, attorneys, paralegals, law students and other legal professionals that provides educational, social and other services to its members.
The New Haven County Bar Association serves the legal profession, promotes the administration of justice and acts as a conduit between the bar and the public. It provides continuing legal education, networking opportunities and membership services; encourages and facilitates public service; addresses the legal needs of the community; and advocates on behalf of its members.
The Bar Association supports its members in many ways, including continuing legal education programs, new attorney mentoring opportunities, encouraging professionalism, offering several committees, annual social events, publishing a newsletter, and fostering relationships between its members and the courts. For the community, we sponsor the New Haven County Lawyer Referral Service and a variety of Law Day activities.
Membership is open to any attorney who works or resides in the Greater New Haven area, and to those paralegals, law students, legal administrators and others who qualify under the Associate Member guidelines.
The Bar Association works closely with its charitable arm, The Foundation of the New Haven County Bar, which provides charitable outreach and educational programming.
