Leadership Circle 2012 Seeks Additional Patrons
The NHCBA is one of the most active legal organizations in the state, hosting a variety of social and educational events. It maintains close relationships with the courts and other bar associations, and keeps members informed through the newsletter, eNews emails and website about local legal-related events and other current issues that may impact the practice of law in the Greater New Haven area – including the current discussion of minimum continuing legal education.
All this activity requires funding, and Leadership Circle participants are absolutely key to the success of the association.
The Leadership Circle was created in 2008 as a stewardship program to provide annual “packaged” sponsorship opportunities for members and their firms, to ensure that one receives tickets to Bar Association events, provides a predictable mechanism for your firm to budget and support the Bar Association’s educational and social activities, and to raise one’s the visibility as a leading supporter of the NHCBA.
Participation ranges from recognition as a “Champion” at the $10,000 level to “Friend” at the $500 level.
Current 2012 participants include: Champion - Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder; Patron - Wiggin and Dana; Advocate - Neubert, Pepe & Monteith, PC, Nuzzo & Roberts, and Quinnipiac University School of Law; Supporters - Jacobs & Jacobs, Littler Mendelson, PC, Parrett, Porto, Parese & Colwell, PC, The Gallagher Law Firm, and Winnick, Ruben, Hoffnung and Mendel, LLC; and Friends - Garcia & Milas, Law Offices of Sung-Ho Hwang, LLC, and Reid & Riege, PC.

Literacy Tutors Needed
New Haven Reads provides free literacy tutoring for more than 500 children but faces huge volunteer shortages when colleges are on break. Substitute tutors are needed to volunteer at least 1 hour during the weeks of March 3 - 17 and May 9 - 31 in order to provide children with continuous tutoring throughout the year. Please contact Phil Kent at pkent@susmanduffy.com or Joy Avallone at joyavallone@avalloneatlaw.com with the NHCBA Public Service Committee to schedule a brief tutor orientation and tour.

Lawyer Referral Service Seeks Volunteers for Public Service Outreach
Volunteers are needed for ASK A LAWYER (AAL) sessions scheduled for 2012 at area libraries in New Haven, Branford, Northford, North Branford and East Haven. The purpose of Ask A Lawyer is to provide members of the community with general legal information; an attorney meets with the participant and provides a free 10-15 minute consultation. If the individual requires additional assistance, they are referred to a social service agency or an LRS attorney. Should you wish to keep the client for yourself, you may (our way of saying "thank you" for volunteering), with the understanding that the client is an LRS client and is subject ot the rules, procedures and 15% fee requirement of the program.
Dates & times for all scheduled sessions are available HERE. More information about the Ask A Lawyer program is available on the Lawyer Referral Service page. Please check your calendars and contact Martha at NHCBA to sign up. THANK YOU!
