This April 3rd, marks the New Haven County Bar Association’s fifth “Politics Matter” event. This is a rare opportunity for our strongest local and state political voices today to interact with New Haven County high school students at a time when they are watching their peers in Florida powerfully raising the national conversation on gun deaths following the tragic shooting in Parkland.

Our panel this year is representative of deep and successful political experience but also it is representative of fresh ideas as well as local and national developments in recent politics.  Panelists include: State Senator Len Fasano; Independent Lt. Governor candidate/Past President of the CT Bar Association, Monte Frank; State Representative, Dave Yaccarino; State Senate candidate and co-founder of Action CT, Valerie Horsley; and CT Mirror and NPR contributor, Mark Pazniokas; State Representative Josh Elliott, a freshman senator and vice chairman of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee; and Irene Shih, Senior Managing Director, Program, for Teach For America – Connecticut.

As moderator, Paul Diego Holzer, the Executive Director of Achieve Hartford!, will bring his own visionary leadership in the area of urban education and community wide engagement to the event.

The event will be held at Quinnipiac University’s School of Law from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at 370 Bassett Road, North Haven, CT.
