Coaches, Managers et al:

The Annual Snowball Charity Softball Tournament is scheduled on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 6 p.m. at the Connecticut SportsPlex in  North Branford. It is our usual day- the Thursday before Thanksgiving. We will follow the same format as in previous years: gather as close to 6 p.m. as possible and commence play shortly thereafter. We have three fields so six full teams can play at once. Depending on the weather, interest, state of the hamstrings... we can play a second round of games.

Five teams listed (Wiggin & Dana. Nuzzo & Roberts, Carmody, Milano & Wanat and the Young Lawyers (the older Young Lawyers) have been regulars for years and Murtha Cullina has now been a regular the last two years. We all hope you can join us again. I am also reaching out to the Quinnipiac Law School team, UConn Law and Quinnipiac Law alums, New Haven TACs, all of whom had some sort of team last year. I suspect there will be changes among those groups but we are confident that we can have strong participation from all or some of those groups this year.

No worries about fielding a full team. More and more we are combining teams the night of the event. The key is get as many people there (with as much advanced notice to me as possible) as you can that night.

"Extra players" in the form of other lawyers in New Haven are  welcome to participate in the tournament for a number of reasons - make sure we have full teams,  get some additional player donations and let them share in the  fun. I would encourage lawyers you know that might like to participate and ask them to play with you (especially if you might not get a full team) or have them contact me to be placed on a team.

As the date gets closer, I will ask you to let me confirm the  state of the team including strength of the team, female numbers, expectation of starting on time etc.

We are asking every law firm to donate $750.00  as an entry fee.  Remember all the money goes directly to the New Haven County Bar  Foundation and then to the homeless shelters.

If the coach is not the money person, please find the person who  controls the checkbook and get a check to Julia Baldini at the  NHCBA made out to the "Foundation of the New Haven County Bar".  Please note on all checks "Snowball Tournament" We are asking all players on firm-sponsored teams to consider an individual contribution of $20.00. Players without a firm sponsor  should consider a donation of $50.00. Young Lawyer players are asked to donate $20.00 as are the law students.

All proceeds benefit the various Hew Haven homeless shelters run by New Reach.

Hamburgers, hot dogs, beverages, chips and snacks will be provided for all participants.

All the fields on top are all turf, which really helps for safety and helps the quality of the game. It would also enable us to play after it rained, which is the one thing we cannot control. Please let your players know that gum, candy, food and drinks are not allowed on the field.

Once again, we look forward to a great tournament.
