We are actively renewing membership dues and would like to share with you the important work that the Bar Association is currently doing in the New Haven County and the state.

We are active in a number of areas – here is our top ten:

Advocacy for lawyers: the NHCBA is leading on a collaborative response to the Rules Committee’s proposal to implement administrative suspensions for attorney non-compliance with MCLE. At this time, we are continuing to engage other bar associations’ state wide as well as the Rules Committee in formulating a response that supports lawyers.

Bench and Bar relations: the NHCBA has historically been viewed as one of the more successful bar associations at furthering the relationships between New Haven judges and lawyers. The NHCBA gathers over a hundred judges and lawyers to such events as Lunch with a Judge and Fall and Spring Bench Bars.

Free CLE: the NHCBA is the only bar association in Connecticut to offer frequent CLE courses at no cost to its members. A significant cost savings for our member attorneys!

Preparing lawyers for the future: the NHCBA is leading a committee for the State of the Legal Profession Task Force Chaired by Judge Elizabeth Bozzuto.

Encouraging the Rule of Law and Civic Engagement: the NHCBA will host 150 New Haven high school students at Quinnipiac University School of Law for Politics Matter: an event featuring national, state and local politicians on a panel to encourage voting and community engagement that lasts a lifetime.

Law student Liaison: the NHCBA is engaging with Quinnipiac Law and UConn Career Development Centers on assisting new law students transition into the practice of law.

Community Leadership: each month the NHCBA’s Executive Committee welcomes a leader of a corporation or non-profit organization to attend our board meetings. Ideas and partnerships have been discussed including New Haven Promise, the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and Elm City Innovation Collaborative.

Networking opportunities: a multitude of social events from summer boat cruises to golf outings to trivia nights.

Lawyer Referral Service: a successful referral service for our members for a broad range of cases from social security to personal injury brought in through calls from the public to Bar office.

Pro Bono: the NHCBA provides free legal information at six New Haven County libraries each month providing access to justice and assistance to many in need.

We would like to acknowledge the important work you do every day in the practice of law.

Your membership gives us the opportunity to work for you - for your success and for the collective success of our hard-working and devoted legal community. Thank you.
