Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen (DESK) Volunteer Session

Join members of the NHCBA and the Public Service Committee as we volunteer for the Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen. DESK has opportunities for volunteers in food preparation and serving, fundraising, advertising, deliveries, administration, and more.

All volunteers, regardless of age and prior affiliation or experience with the DESK organization, must complete and sign the waiver, to be submitted immediately upon arrival at the DESK program, facility, operation, or event. Health regulations require that kitchen staff/volunteers wear closed toe shoes. Thank you.

When: Every fourth Thursday of the month at 5:30pm
Where: Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen, 311 Temple Street (behind Public Library), New Haven

Volunteers (left to right): Andy Corea, Michelle Querijero, Scott Sebastian, Ling Drew Ly, Chrystal Szeto, Proloy Das

CAPABA, SABAC, CHBA and NHCBA members joined together for a night of volunteering at the New Haven Downtown Soup Kitchen on July 24, 2014. Proloy Das, President of the CT Asian Pacific American Bar Association, said to participants, “I am proud that we had representatives from CAPABA, SABAC, and CHBA last night. I enjoyed the opportunity to share our public service experience with each of you. Community service projects bring out the best in us, the best in our profession, and the best in our organizations. These kinds of opportunities are a wonderful way to unite our bars through our common desire to make a difference. But their success depends on dedicated individuals like you.”
