LRS Attorney Membership

About the LRS

Founded in 1952, the New Haven County Bar Association (NHCBA) is proud to sponsor the Lawyer Referral Service (LRS), a not-for-profit service that provides clients with unbiased referrals to attorneys in New Haven County and surrounding areas.

Currently, the LRS receives thousands of calls per year asking for legal assistance, referring hundreds of potential clients with important cases in many areas of law, including Family, Landlord/Tenant, Criminal, Real Estate, Torts, Probate, Social Security and Personal Injury.

The LRS is always seeking new members but has a specific need for Medical Malpractice and Consumer Law attorneys and Spanish speaking Custody and Divorce attorneys.

Ask-A-Lawyer (AAL) Informational Clinics

The LRS provides member attorneys the wonderful opportunity to volunteer and provide free fifteen-minute consultations to local clients on a wide variety of legal matters. AAL clinics are usually held at a local library or public place and are always scheduled in advance throughout the year. If a client needs further assistance following the consultation, the attorney has the option to retain the client him/herself or refer the client back to our Lawyer Referral Service for a reduced referral fee.

This program is a great way to get involved with your community and potentially add to your client base. If you would like to volunteer your time, please confirm your interest on your membership application or current members may email lrs@newhavenbar.org for a list of open clinics.
