Who can become a member?
NHCBA membership is open to any attorney in good standing with the State of Connecticut or any other jurisdiction.
In addition, the NHCBA welcomes those who qualify for Associate Member status:
- A law student enrolled in an American Bar Association ("ABA") accredited law school.
- A teacher or professor of law at an ABA-accredited law school.
- A law clerk in a federal or Connecticut Superior court.
- A legal administrator, legal librarian, or paralegal/legal assistant who is employed by a law office, including a corporate legal department, government, judicial/legal agency, or any other entity devoted to the practice of law.
What are the annual dues?
Annual NHCBA dues are payable on October 1 of each year per the (October 1 to September 30) membership year. Renewal notices are emailed by the end of September.
Attorney Dues
- Admitted to CT Bar (1st year): FREE
- Admitted to CT Bar (2 - 5 years): $150
- Admitted to CT Bar (6 - 49 years): $200
- Admitted to CT Bar (50 years or more): FREE (Honorary benefit)
Associate Dues
- Law / Paralegal Student: FREE (Student benefit)
- Temporary Assistant Clerk (T.A.C): $30
- Law-related Professional: $100
- Paralegal, legal administrator/librarian: $50

- Download the NHCBA membership application (at the bottom of this page) and email it back to NHCBAInfo@newhavenbar.org.
- Print and mail the application to P.O. Box 1441. New Haven, CT 06506 with enclosed check payment. If you prefer to pay via credit card, you may pay online once the invoice is created and emailed to you or call our office at 203.562.9652.
